USAID/Management Science for Health (MSH)/STRIDES project
Under the STRIDES project, UPMA seeks to strengthen Reproductive Health/Family Planning and Child Survival in Uganda.

Background
Supporting the Ministry of Health and its private sector health partners, the USAID funded RH/FP/CS services program (hereinafter referred to as the STRIDES for family health project aims to improve quality of and increase access to integrated RH/FP & CS services to people who need them. The project contributes to the Uganda Government’s objectives to improve the health of families and communities, fertility reduction, and lower the maternal, newborn, infant and child morbidity & mortality. This narrative accompanies and explains the detailed activity plan for project implementation in its first year. Following a summary of the project goal, objectives and strategies, the work plan activities are discussed in the same order as they appear in the work plan table.
To implement the STRIDES project, USAID and the Uganda Ministry of Health (MOH) work through Management Sciences for Health (MSH) and its partners – Communications Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU), the Uganda Private Midwives Organization (UPMO), Jhpiego and Meridian. MSH is an international NGO whose mission it is to bridge the gap between what is known and what is done in public health. MSH currently operates in over 130 countries, including Uganda, where MSH has been working since the 1990s.
Project objectives /Results
The project work plan is designed around the three Results
- Result 1: Increase the Quality and Provision of Routine RH/FP and CS Services at Facilities
- Result 2: Improve and Expand Access to and Demand for RH/FP and CS Services at the Community Level
- Result 3: Advance Use of RH/FP and CS Services through Supportive Systems
